Instructions and DisclaimerInstructionsWelcome to the Comptroller's Contributions Inquiry Page. Citizens need information to make informed decisions. Open Book allows citizens to enter the name or partial name of an organization that does business with the State of Illinois and look at the political contributions that entity made. It combines information from the Comptroller's accounting system with information collected by the State Board of Elections and presents it in a format that allows you to compare an organization's State contracts and political contributions made. When your results are returned, you can receive as many as three sets of results. Along the left side, partial and exact matches between your search criteria and State contractors are listed. Along the right, partial and exact matches between your search criteria and political contributors are shown. Further down on the right side are employees of partial and exact matches of contributors who have contributed. You can then pursue further whichever set of results you wish. There is also a help video that may assist you. DisclaimerThe information found on the Comptroller’s contract database is supplied by State agencies which enter into contracts for goods and services with private entities. The responsibility for its accuracy is mainly with the State agency that files the contract. The database is updated nightly. The contracts that appear on this site are limited to those required by statute to be filed with the Comptroller's Office and are limited only to commercial vendors. As such, they do not include information related to State employee salaries, income tax refunds, public aid assistance, unemployment, lottery or retirement payments. The data from the State Board of Elections is updated twice yearly. Therefore, it may not include the most current information. The accuracy of the information depends upon the individuals filing the reports and the Board. Users are encouraged to consult additional resources available at the State Board of Elections, the Comptroller's Office and other governmental agencies in their research.
